So, What Am I Doing on Tuesdays and Thursdays??

There is no telling where you may find me or what you may find me doing on Tuesdays and Thursdays from now on!!!! I am very seldom at home ALL BY MYSELF, but with the big kids at school and Kate in preschool twice a week I will get to be by myself quite a bit now. Chris has been a bit concerned with what I am going to do with all my free time. Today I have had no trouble staying busy. After I dropped Kate off at preschool I headed over to the swimming pool and signed up for adult swimming on Tues. and Thurs. from 9:30-10:30. I will start swimming on Sept. 1. Then I went to Walmart to pick up a few groceries and look at the kids bedspreads. Next I headed home and went for a walk. After my walk, I baked a cake and made homemade ice cream. I have really been craving dessert lately. This should fix me right up. I ate some lunch and checked out all the sites and blogs I look at daily. After lunch, I put Kate's new bed together (details and pictures will come in a later post). I then took a shower and fixed my hair. I finished everything just in time to type this up and head out the door to pick up Luke and Rachel. I hope all my days off are not this busy, but it was a great day and I got a few things done!

PS. The television has not even been turned on today!!!! Awwww, QUIET!!!!

First Day of School!!!

Kindergarten here he comes!!!
Our big Third grader!!! She has been very excited for school to start. I think she would go to school year around if she could.

They say the best days of the whole year for a mom are the first day and the last day of school. I must say I was not ready for school to start. We have had a blast this summer!! I hate to see summer come to an end.

Both Rachel and Luke were excited to start school today. Getting to bed early was hard for them last night, but getting up was no problem. Luke had a little trouble getting dressed. I was not surprised. He will give me trouble every morning about something. That is just a given with Luke. Chris, Kate, and I walked them to their classes. Now we have to figure out what to do with ourselves until we pick them up this afternoon.

Popsicles

Hello my name is Kate, and I am a popsiclaholic.

Kate has really developed an addiction to popsicles this summer. Every evening after she finishes her dinner she says, "I want ice ceam." We then get her out of the high chair and take her shirt off (so she won't stain it with popsicle drippings). She then does her little run to the refrigerator out in the garage, saying "ice ceam" as she goes, and points to freezer. When we hand her the popsicle she then says "outside" and runs to the back door. It is really a cute little routine she has!

These pictures were taken all on the same night. It was when Rachel and Luke went on their trip to Abilene. Kate ate her popsicle and one for Rachel and Luke too!

I call this the SUPERWOMAN.

Flashback Friday

We took this picture of Kate today at the pool. She would not allow us to fix her goggles for her. She thought they were perfect just the way they were.

This picture of Kate reminded me of one of our favorite pictures of Lukie.

Upon further investigation, this picture was taken three years ago to the day of the picture taken of Kate. How cool is that?

Abilene Trip - blogged by Rachel

Grandnanna and Grandpa took Luke, Tenley and me to Abilene for the weekend. And it was extra fun!!!!!!!!!!


Turtles are hungry and cute. I love the turtle!

The giraffes were my favorite. And I'll tell you one thing! They LOVE animal crackers!!!! You should see their tongue it is long and purple.

Here we are on the ladybug statue.The buffaloes are hairy and big.The alligator was big really big. Did you know that it only gets fed once a week? They even fed it a bunny while we were there.

The monkeys were climbing everywhere.

Front Page News!!!

Our block party made the front page of the Midland Reporter Telegram yesterday. Rachel has really been wanting her picture in the paper since Luke had his in the paper in June. I guess she got her wish on the front page no less!!

We all (excluding Chris who was at work) made it in the picture on the bottom left. You will have to click on the picture to make it bigger so you can identify us.

First Day of Preschool and A Block Party

Today was Kate's first day of preschool!! Here she is peaking through the window at what is going on inside.

This is how we left her...she went straight to the blocks. She did not even notice when we left.

She did very well for her first day of preschool. Miss Teresa, who also taught Rachel and Luke, said she adjusted much better than Luke did on his first day. She did cry a little when she realized we were gone, but enjoyed playing and even went down for a nap without a fuss. I hope Thursday goes just as good!

This evening our street had a block party. It was National Night Out. Some of Midland's finest even came for the party. The fire department, ambulance, police, Safety Pup, and even a member of the Sheriff's Mounted Posse came. The kids thoroughly enjoyed getting to explore all the emergency vehicles, pet the horse from the mounted posse, meeting the Safety Pup, and riding their scooters up and down the street with all the neighborhood kids.

It is kind of an unnerving feeling having a fire truck and ambulance parked in front of your house. I am just thankful one of my kids did not cause the appearance.

All of the neighborhood kids got to crawl all over the ambulance, fire truck, and police car to their hearts content.

Luke even got to TOOT the horn! (I used that word because it is one of Luke's favorites.)

Fire hats and color books for everybody...
