Basketball

Rachel and Luke are both playing basketball again this year. We are well into the season and they are both scoring points and having fun. Here are a few shots of them in action on the court.

Our Saturdays through the months of January and February are filled with basketball. I enjoy watching them both play. The best part is they always turn and find me in the crowd and give me a big smile when they make a basket!!! I love those smiles!!

HC Sinclair Gas Station

 We made a visit to the HC Sinclair Gas Station. This gas station dates back to 1935. It has recently been restored. I decided it would be fun to take the kids to see all the old-timy equipment and of course take some pictures. I have always thought the station was cute, but now it is really cute. All the equipment is shiny and fixed up just like it was in its hay day. You can read more on it here.

Jingle Bell Jog

Rachel and Luke ran their first and possibly their last 5K just before Christmas. With some encouraging from me and a little $ incentive, they both participated in the running club at school. I thought it would be great exercise and keep them in shape for basketball. They both really enjoyed the running club. I was a little surprised. The running club at school gets the kids ready for The Jingle Bell Jog 5K race. This is a picture of the group of kids from Greathouse Elementary.

The 5K was a little more than they expected. I don't know if I could talk them into running in one again. I thought they did great and was very proud of them for doing the running club and the race. I know it did get them ready for basketball. Luke made me stop by Target on the wasy home from the race to get some Legos with the money he earned from me. That boy just can't hold on to money long.

Even the Birds are Cold!!!

We have been experiencing a few cold days. Everybody is trying to keep warm....even the birds. The front of our house must be the warmest spot in the neighborhood because we have about 20+ birds hanging out there. I decided to sneak around and try to get some pictures. Well it did not take much to get them to fly away in one big swoosh!!! But I did manage to get a picture of the ones hanging out in the bird bath.

With all this company there is bound to be a mess. I have lots of spring cleaning before somebody can sit on my bench out there again.

Daddy Daughter Tea Party

This morning Chris and Kate attended a Daddy Daughter Tea Party at our church. I thought this sounded like so much fun and wished I could have gone too just so I could see all the daddies with their little girls all dressed up. Kate was really excited to go, and she loved her new purple party dress. She liked the velvety part the best.

Chris said they took pictures at the party and took his name and email. I will share when they come in. Chris said there was a big turn out and it was really cute and fun. They served peach tea, cookies, fruit, and muffins. Kate came home with a special balloon, a head band that Chris made for her, and a goodie box full of fun things. What a special day and party for Kate and Chris!!

Defending Her Title

Rachel competed in her school spelling bee again this year....and SHE WON!!! We are so excited and proud of her!!! I had really worried it would be hard to win two years in a row, and I prayed she would not be too disappointed. Well she new her words and won without any problem. Statistician was the word she won with.

Now we are studying for the Area Wide Spelling Bee in February.  The winner wins a trip to Washington DC for the National Spelling Bee. She only has to study and know over a thousand words from the study list. There will be lots of studying in our future.

Happy Halloween!!!

As you might have guessed by now, we did not make it to the pumpkin patch this year. It makes me a little sad, but the only kid that said something about wanting to go was Rachel. By then it was too late and most of the pumpkins were gone. :0( So, we did a little photo shoot at the house in our costumes.

The pictures came up in the order they were taken, so Momma is first! I am a little self conscious about being first.

Here I am as Wonder Woman!!! I saw this costume and knew it was mine!! I even put it on first thing yesterday morning and wore it all day.

Little Superman was tricked into this costume. He thought he was getting to wear his pjs all day!

Little did he know Wonder Woman had pinned a cape on the back of it. It took him most of the day to figure it out and want it off.

Memaw came to spend Halloween with us. She passed out candy last night to the Trick-or-Treaters. Love the picture where Superman is smiling up at her.

Trick-or-Treating.  Wade caught on very fast. He LOVED trick-or-treating!!! He did not say much. He mostly grabbed the candy and ran back to the stroller. We will work on better manners for next year.
