Katybug is quite the dancer!! She dances whenever the videos come on the Disney Channel between shows. This is her current favorite. You can't hear the music very well but you can see her moves.

The Lake

We had a super fun time at the lake this year!! Which is no big surprise because we do every year. Here are a few of the pictures I took.

Here he is doing a back flip off the rope. He was told he has mastered the rope swing. He has aways scared us in the past because he would let go a little later than the adults were comfortable with. This year he knew when to let go.

Kate knew how to do the rope swing too. She has gotten practice at swimming lessons.

We are always so grateful that Carol and Cecil open up their home to everybody so we can all come have a great time on the lake together. Thank you so much!!

Bunk Beds

Kate had asked Santa Claus for bunk beds this year for Christmas. We explained to her that Santa did not deliver furniture he just brought toys. So she asked for a trampoline instead....don't know if we made life any easier on Santa or not.

Rachel, Luke and Kate all wanted bunk beds. Aunt Cara set us up with some people from Uncle Beaubie's cousin's church that were giving away some bunk beds. Everybody was so excited about the bunk beds. They could not wait to get them painted and set up. They were very helpful with sanding the beds.

Well the whole process took me about 4 months. It was pretty hard to find time to work on them when I  did not have kids around. Paint and kids do not mix well. I started to get a little pressure from Chris to finish the painting so he could have his parking space back in the garage before it got so hot.

Turns out I am not a very good painter, and I don't like to paint much at all. At least the kids are very forgiving of all the paint runs and mistakes. I have learned my lesson about painting furniture. I will be buying it already the color I want in the future.

Kate was the winner of the bunk beds. She already had a twin mattress, and we thought that would be a good way to get her to sleep in her own bed.

The kids were all very excited to have the beds finished and set up. Rachel and Luke slept together on the top bunk the first night. Kate was at Memaw's house. When she got back she was surprised to see her new bed in her room. She was happy and excited. She slept on the top bunk with Rachel that first night.

I must report Kate has only spent one night on the bunk bed. Rachel and Luke have spent two nights on it. I know it took me longer to paint the thing than they have slept on it in two weeks. Also, Chris is still parking outside in 100 degree heat. Go figure!!

How Does Your Garden Grow: Part 2

I am happy to report our little garden is still alive and even growing!!! 

This first picture is what we started with the day we planted. We started with tomatoes, cucumbers, corn seed, strawberries, and carrots. The strawberries died of heat stroke the first week, but everything else is still alive and well.

Here is what our planter bed looks like all grown up.

Tomatoes. We have lots of little green tomatoes right now. Can't wait for them to ripen.

Jalapenos. These were planted after the strawberries died.

Carrots. I initially gave up on the carrots. We had planted the tiny little seeds too deep. I decided to plant sunflowers instead so when a dug around and moved the dirt some of the carrot seeds started to grow, so now there is not a pretty row of carrots they are just here and there.

I mentioned I planted sunflowers. I do have one that is growing but the rest of the seeds were eaten up by the birds. They would dig them up as fast as I planted them...very frustrating.

I planted some more corn on the side of the house. I have trouble keeping Amos from running over them when he is trying to catch all the robbers in the neighborhood.

 We have had fun watering and watching our plants grow.

Car Show and Cruise

This past Saturday Luke went to his first car show and cruise. We met up with Granddad Bob in Colorado City. Luke was really excited to see the old cars. He even got to sit in a few. After the car show they cruised the streets of Colorado City in Granddad Bob's Studebaker. The Studebaker won a trophy for Top 10 Cars in the cruise. Luke got to accept the award. The announcer asked to see his drivers license as a joke when he ran up there.

This was one of Luke's favorite cars in the cruise. Granddad Bob arranged for him to sit in it to get his picture made.

Luke had a fun time at his first car show and cruise. Granddad Bob may turn him into an old car buff after all.

Lets Bowl

Last Thursday Kate and Wade had Mother's Day Out  and Rachel was at church camp, so it was just me and Luke for the day. I told him we could do anything he wanted to do. He chose bowling.

Now it is my turn. It has been along time since I have bowled. It took me a while to figure things out again.

It was a fun date with my big boy!! I am so glad we had the opportunity to go just one on one. It was a special day for both of us.

Our Trip to Lubbock

Chris had a class in Lubbock last Tuesday and Wednesday. The kids and I decided to join him while he was there. Tuesday after class we went to eat at Cagles Steakhouse. Dinner was great as usual. After dinner we let the kids play in the little courtyard.

This little merry-go-round was a big hit. I think Wade could have rode it all night. I even had to go get more quarters.

The weather was so nice and cool we decided to introduce the kids to Texas Tech University. We let them walk around the campus and showed them where we went to class.

I wish I had got more pictures of the bronze statues because the kids said this was their favorite part. It took a lot of courage for Wade to pet this dog.

After our tour of Tech we decided we needed some ice cream. It was two scoops for $2 night!!!

Then we headed back to the hotel and went swimming. No pictures because I was swimming too!

The next morning we got ready and went down for breakfast. After breakfast we went swimming again. Then it was time to load up and check out.

Before we left Lubbock I took the kids to a playground so they could blow off some more steam before we drove home. This playground turned out to be a big hit. I think they would have played all day if Wade had not started getting tired and fussy.

Our trip to Lubbock turned out to be a fun getaway. The weather was in the 70's and 80's.
