One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

Just over a month ago Kate had to have her two front teeth pulled as a result of a fall. She had fallen and hit her two front teeth on our kitchen tile. She fractured the root of one of the teeth and had root resorption on both teeth. Needless to say I was sick about it. The dentist was very understanding and worked with us to get her some replacement teeth in time for her third birthday and the new baby.

This morning we went for a follow up exam after she received her new partial a little over three weeks ago. We all agreed there were a few things that could be done to improve the look of the teeth, but we were not going to pursue them at this time because we did not want to put Kate thru the process again. We would revisit the possibility of having a new partial made in a few years when she was older and more cooperative. Everybody was happy.

Well, this evening after dinner we all went to the pool to let the kids swim and we could sit and relax a bit. We had walked to the pool and the kids rode their scooters. We were at the pool about 15 minutes and Kate jumped into the pool as Rachel was getting out. Kate hit Rachel's head with her teeth and knocked the tooth just left of the new partial out root and all. Rachel's head also had a little gash in it from the tooth. Both girls were bleeding and crying! We headed straight home. We managed to get the scooters and crying girls home. I am just so glad Chris was with us! After we got home we noticed that the partial was broken too. We called the dentist and we will go see him in the morning. He will x-ray her, remove the rest of the partial, and we will start the whole process over. So much for a pretty white smile for Kate's third birthday!

How boring life would be without kids, they keep one on their toes. Know this was traumatic for everyone, tomorrow will be a better day. Love to all.
