How Does Your Garden Grow?

We were all excited to plant our garden again this year. The kids had been asking about it for a couple of weeks now. I have been afraid we would still have another cold snap, so we waited. Well after school yesterday we went to the nursery and picked out a few plants, and this morning we planted them. My big helpers were Wade and Kate. Both were really into it.

Kate picked a strawberry plant. Last year I think our strawberries lasted two days. It was just too hot. This year we planted them in the front flower bed. Maybe they will get a little more shade there and have a better chance.

 I wish grass would grow in our yard as well as it does in our flower beds.

Our little garden all planted. We have three tomato plants, cucumbers, squash, bell pepper, and I planted some sunflower seeds too. I hope we get as lucky with the tomatoes as we did last year. We planted three varieties this year. We have cherry, grape, and Roma. We will keep our fingers crossed!!!

We also found this little guy in the planter bed. Both Kate and Wade wanted to hold it. I was a little surprised. 

He was looonnng. I buried him back into the dirt before they broke him into.

Easter Sunday

Easter was a big day for us with lots of Easter Egg hunts. After church we came back to Grandnanna and Grandpa's house for dinner. Before the kids changed out of their church clothes we attempted a few pictures.

 Sydney wanted her picture taken with me!! Between her and Miles telling me I was beautiful I am having a hard time deciding who my favorite is. :0) (just kidding)

Rachel hid eggs and the others hunted. Look at Luke. And he did not want to hunt eggs this year....uh huh.

 Memaw Linda was sick on Easter, so we missed hunting eggs at her house. We did go out to the farm to see Grandma, so we hunted a few eggs there. Aunt Dena brought us eggs to hunt filled with money...my favorite.

Grandma helped Wade hunt his eggs. Wade is an expert at hunting eggs after this weekend.

Dena also gave all the kids little banks to keep all their money. The banks are so cute and the kids love them. They even slept with them.

The sun was a little bright, but wanted to show the little piggy banks.

Happy 95th Birthday Grandma!!!

Today my precious, sweet, kind, loving Grandmother turns 95 years young!! What a day to celebrate!!

She had a birthday party a couple of weeks ago to celebrate this big day! It was kind of a surprise party. Three of her nieces drove in from Carthage the day before the party. She was not quite sure where they were headed and just stopped in to visit. They had to let her in on the party plans!!

One of Grandma's favorite activities is singing, so we were sure to do a little singing on her birthday.

The kids played in the fields some. I like how the rows are just starting to grow.

I can't even start to write about everything she has done for me and what a wonderful influence and example my Grandma has been in my life. I love her so much!! I am just so lucky and blessed to have her still here with us. She is 95 and still lives by herself in her own house. She loves to entertain the kids when we come. She even helped Wade hunt Easter Eggs on Sunday. I hope I am doing so well when I am 95!! 

Easter at Fluvanna

We had our traditional Easter Egg hunt and Reunion at Fluvanna this year. This year the Reunion was at Fluvanna Baptist Church rather than the Community Center. The kids were a little upset about the change, but it worked out just great! 

 On Thursday before Easter Luke declared he did not want to hunt eggs this year at the Reunion. Unfortunately, Rachel was still planning to hunt, but she was feeling a little self conscious because Luke was not going to be hunting and she is older. She told Luke that there would be kids older than him hunting. He said "yeah just one...You!" :0) She pestered him enough he finally agreed to hunt with her. Momma was a little sad that they are getting too big to want to hunt.

I still have a few years to watch Kate hunt.

 And Miles.

 And Madison.

 And Sydney.

And Wade.

At least a couple more for Tenley too.

 But Rachel's egg hunts are numbered. :0(

Wade and Madison got rattles. They had a blast shaking them at each other. I did not get pictures, but Rachel got a butterfly and Luke a rattlesnake.

 Having the reunion at the church was kind of bittersweet for Chris. The church has recently disbanded and the building will be for sale soon. Chris was baptized in this church and his Papa had preached there. He wanted to get a last picture while we were there.

We all had a great time on Saturday!! We were very glad Chris was off and could come with us. It has been a few years since he has been off so he could come.
