Carving Our Pumpkins

Carving our pumpkins is probably my favorite part of Halloween! I just wish the Jack-O-Lanterns would last a little longer after they are carved. On Wednesday night we had a little carving party at our house. The kids were excited and ready!

Everything is new to Wade. We were excited to see his reaction to the insides of the pumpkin. He was completely grossed out!!

But he did put his hand inside and try to scraped out the guts. I was proud of him for trying!

Luke is an expert. He had his cleaned out in no time!

He went right to work carving out his original Frankenstein design.

Our Jack-O-Lanterns...

We were all so happy with the way our pumpkins turned out this year! The kids are getting really good at carving out the pumpkins. They don't even complain about cleaning out the insides anymore. I will soon have to have my own pumpkin because they don't need or want my help. :0( We had a fun time carving our pumpkins and they brightened our walk for the trick or treaters.

Pumpkin Patch

This past Friday Kate's class had a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Wade and I met them there. I was so excited to go! Wade was not too sure of the Pumpkin Patch at first, but he quickly got over that when he discovered they had wagons there.

I was trying to take a self portrait of the three of us when another mom offered to take our picture. I love it!!

I did run into a little mouse while we were at the Pumpkin Patch. It just so happened to be Mickey Mouse!!! I was so excited to see him. We watch him everyday on television....sometimes several times a day. He smiled for me, and even let me take his picture.

He was just the sweetest and cutest little guy. Now I know why we love him as much as we do.

Sadly, my big kids have outgrown the Pumpkin Patch. :0( They said they would go but did not want to wear costumes. I can understand that. Then Kate had a field trip there so they did not end up going. I really don't understand because I haven't out grown the pumpkin patch. We had a great time on Friday. Wade loved it there and I loved getting some Fall pictures.

Fiddlesticks Farm

I was really ready to get out and do something fun this weekend. I really wanted to go to the Texas State Fair, but that was out of the question, so we decided to head to Fiddlesticks Farm. We usually go in November, but decided it was okay to go early this year. It was a fun day!!

Wade was scared to try everything at first. He did go down a little tube slide and thought that was fun. Then we headed to the jumper. He did not hesitate to go jump....and he was not happy when his turn was over!

Wade had a hard time at first with all the big new things. He is scared to try new things. He gradually became brave and had fun during the day. He went down slides, jumped on the bouncer, explored big trailers, watched a cow milking demonstration, watched a pig race, played in the hay, played tether ball, went for a hayride to the pumpkin patch....all out of his comfort zone when he arrived. When we got back from the hayride he climbed on this tractor with out us asking. I was proud of my brave boy!!

We went through the corn maze just before it got dark. We just went through the easy one. Next year we will go through the harder one.

What a fun day we had!! The best part was the kids having fun...especially Wade. We all came home tired and dirty. Perfect!!

Cowboy

We got another puppy!! I know we are crazy. I just felt like Radar needed a buddy, and we did not want to go through potty training again in a few years when Amos is gone. So we went against our better judgement and got a puppy!! This is Cowboy. His is a red and white piebald miniature dachshund. Radar is actually this little guys uncle, but they look nothing alike.

Radar first meeting Cowboy. Cowboy gave him a kiss. Radar was really excited and wanted to play with the new puppy, but he wanted to play way too rough. It took him a few days to settle down and play nice. Now they are great buds.

Amos needed a sniff too. He was not excited at all. A couple of sniffs and went back inside. Amos has done much better this time around with the new puppy. Really they leave him alone most of the time because they are playing with each other. Amos does break up any wrestling matches that he feels are getting too rough. Like he is telling them to stop because somebody is going to get hurt.

Time for a nap.

We hoped Radar and Cowboy would be friends. They have really taken to each other and enjoy naps and wrestling together. It makes me happy. I especially love my lap warmers when I take the kids to school. Amos prefers to ride in a seat by himself.

My favorite things about Radar are his white tipped tail and his pretty eyes. My favorite things about Cowboy are his ticking (spots or freckles) and his sweet little face. I have really enjoyed having these sweet puppies. Oh and the kids like them too! 

Beards, Beards, Beards

Have you ever wondered what you would look like with a beard? Luke found an App that will make you look like you are a member of Duck Dynasty. We had lots of fun making ourselves look pretty silly!!

I think my beard may be a little too full. Maybe I should trim it a little next time.

 Kate did not look too bad herself!  She was happy, happy, happy with her bearded self!

Nobody was safe from getting a beard. When we ran out of humans we moved onto the dogs. It was tough getting Cowboy to hold his head still enough to get his beard, but we did it!!
